The International Fertilizer Manufacturers Association (IFA) has recently published its “Short-Term Fertilizer Outlook 2024-2025” report, which provides insights into the short-term global fertilizer market. According to IFA estimates, global nutrient demand in the 2024/25 fertilizer year will be 114 million tonnes of N (up 2 percent year-on-year), 47 million tonnes of P2O5 (flat), and 40 million tonnes of K2O (up 8 percent). This represents a total nutrient demand of 201 million tonnes (N+P2O5+K2O), which would increase to 205 million tonnes in the 2025/26 fertilizer year (with a 2 percent increase in consumption compared to 2024/25).

IFA estimates that between the fertilizer years 2023/24 and 2025/26 the increase in fertilizer consumption will be led by East Asia (26 percent of the total increase), followed by South Asia (19 percent), Latin America (19 percent) and Central and Eastern Europe (16 percent).
