The fertilizer market in 2020/2021.

During the last agricultural campaign 2020/21, sales of fertilizers stood at 5.1 million tons of product, 1.4 percent lower than the figure for the previous campaign. The consumption of nitrogenous fertilizers has decreased (-2.4%), phosphate fertilizers (-18.7), and potassium fertilizers have increased (+13.4%), and complex fertilizers (+1.4).

Expressed in terms of nutrients, sales have reached a total amount of 1,917,812 tons, having decreased by 1.4 percent compared to 2019/20, in which 1,946,130 tons of nutrients were sold.

In the 2020/21 campaign, the approximate N: P2O5: K2O ratio of nutrient consumption in Spain was 1: 0.44: 0.42, practically the same as the average of the last five agricultural years. That is, for every 1,000 tons of N, 440 t of P2O5 and 420 t of K2O were consumed. Spain represents approximately 10 percent of European fertilizer consumption and 1 percent of world consumption.

According to the latest update of the Agricultural Economic Accounts (CEA), National Agricultural Income in current values stood at 29,492.3 million euros in 2021, which represents an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the previous year. and 4.6 percent at constant prices (Real Agrarian Income).

This would be the highest figure in the historical series of National Agrarian Income, which began in 1990, in which 2017 appears as the second year with the highest value (29,152.2 million euros).

The evolution of macromagnitudes of the MAPA in the advance of the National Agrarian Income 2021 indicates that the value of the Production of the Agricultural Branch reached 57,102 million euros (+10.3% compared to 2020), with a rebound of 8. 4 percent of prices and 1.7 percent of volume. Of this amount, 34,999 million correspond to the value of "Plant Production" (+14.8 percent); 20,478 million to "Animal Production" (+3.8 percent); 680 million to "Production of Services" (+11.6 percent) and 943 million (-1.8 percent) to "Other Productions."

Regarding the value of "Intermediate Consumption" (27,132 million, +13.3 percent compared to 2020), the largest item would be feed (14,263 million, +14.2 percent), followed by energy and lubricants (2,385 million, +35.9 percent) and fertilizers and amendments (2,217 million, +25.6 percent).
